West Hallam Care Home was opened in 1988 in the quiet village of West Hallam, within easy travelling distance
from Ilkeston, Derby, and Nottingham. The Home is situated in a quite residential area only minutes away from
Shipley Country Park.
West Hallam is a very community minded village and local churches visit regularly providing spiritual care to our
Residents if requested. The village provides many events throughout the year, including the annual Well Dressing
which attracts many visitors. Local amenities include good pubs all within walking distance, some of which provide
restaurant facilities. The Bottle Kiln is a lovely place to visit for meals or a coffee and boasts a unique gift shop.
October 2009 saw the opening of the De Cromwell Wing and further investment in the original care home facilities.
The wing adds a self contained, purpose-built Extra Care Unit constructed around a central courtyard with 12 ensuite
rooms and a lovely day room. The facility provides around the clock care to those residents with special care
requirements.
In addition, the development included a wider and improved main entrance to the home and a number of existing
rooms were upgraded with en-suite facilities. On-site catering and laundry is provided and of course all residents
will have full use of all of Ashmere’s centralised facilities.
Everyone who passes through our door is sure of a warm welcome. Whether you require day, respite, long term or
dementia care our staff and management will extend that welcome to you.
