Finding a Care Home

We know that finding the right Care Home can be difficult and we want to make things easier. Whatever type of care you are looking for we are confident that we can meet your needs at Ashmere.

All of our Ashmere homes are registered by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The purpose of this registration is to ensure that the homes meet the government's national essential standards of quality and safety for care homes. So you can rest assured that you are in safe hands. To find out more about the CQC go to http://www.cqc.org.uk/.

Ashmere can provide care on a long term basis, short term respite care is also offered as well as day care. If you are unsure whether long term care is right for you then why not organise a short stay in one of our homes. Many new residents ease in gently with a number of short visits before a permanent place is agreed.

Whether you will be privately funded or funded through social services you have a right to choose your own care home. We recommend that you view at least two care homes before making your final choice. We have supplied you with this handy questionnaire to use when you are visiting Care Homes. If you would like to know more about funding care then click here.

All of our homes have a full range of equipment that make our homes fully accessible for disabled residents. Stand aids, hoists, lifts, ramps and nurse call systems in every room ensure that life for our residents is easy and relaxed.

Care is usually catergorised into different levels.

Residential care is for residents who do not require nursing care but offers personal care. Staff are available 24 hours a day and can provide help with all day to day activities, such as washing, dressing and mobility.

All levels of residential care can be met at Ashmere. Residents who need minimal assistance with activities of daily living, who are independant, right up to those who's needs are complex with full assistance required with all activities of daily living.

Nursing care is provided in a number of our Ashmere sites. This is the type of care you will require if you have health issues that require nursing care. As well as all of the care offered in our residential Homes a Registered Nurse is on duty 24 hours a day. Nursing residents can be cared for at all levels, from minimal input from the Registered Nurse, to a high need for Registered Nurse.

Dementia care is our specialty at Ashmere. Several of our homes have Extra Care Units all especially designed with dementia in mind. If you want to find out more about our Extra Care Units then click here.
