    Valley Lodge Nursing Home is located in Darley Dale, close to Matlock and Chesterfield. The home is accessible by a local bus service and is located on Bakewell Road. The home accommodates a maximum of 63 residents; consisting of a 12 bedded dementia household and the main part of the home having nursing, residential and dementia residents. The home recently achieved ‘Good’ in its CQC inspection.

    As a Care Assistant with Ashmere you will be communicating effectively and professionally with the residents, colleagues, relatives and visitors at all times. You will show compassion towards our residents and ensuring that their needs are met. You will assist with personal care and assist with meal times when needed. You may also get involved in activities in the homes and assist our activities co-ordinators on trips out.

    It might not be that you have any paid experience providing care to others however you may have looked after and given care to a friend or family member so don’t worry, we can provide you with all the training that you need in our induction scheme and through our buddying scheme when you start in our home.

    We are looking for people who have a passion for care and who put the needs of our residents at the front of their mind, who are flexible in terms of shift patterns, who have a positive attitude, are reliable and will go above and beyond.

    The dementia support worker role relies on a passion to learn; a passion to enable people with dementia to live well; hold excellent communication skills and the ability to accept a person for who they are.

    You will be assisting residents with all aspects of their care including assisting with mealtimes and personal care. You will responsible for administrating medication and liaising with outside professionals.

    Your experience in dementia doesn’t necessary need to be paid experience, you might have cared for a family member of friend. Don’t worry about needing any formal qualification, we can support you with this should you be successful in gaining a role with us.
