An exciting opportunity has arisen for Activities Co-ordinators at Ashmere Derbyshire Ltd’s brand new home Heanor Park. The home is due to open in November 2019 and we are now looking to put our team together.

Successful applications will be required to attend a week’s paid induction starting on 21st October 2019 (a later induction date may also be available).

Heanor Park will be a 60 bedded Residential home consisting of residential rooms, dementia households and serviced apartments. Situated overlooking Heanor Memorial Park, it is easily accessible from both Ripley and Codnor areas as well as the Erewash district.

The duties of the role will include providing stimulation and encouragement to residents through entertainment, activities and community links. You will be promoting the Home by assisting with fund-raising events and functions and working with the care team to build good relationships with the residents and their relatives.

Our activities co-ordinators will work 5 days out of 7 including weekends (part time hours will be considered). A normal working shift may be 10am – 6pm or 11am – 7pm depending on the needs of the home and residents.

Responsibilities:

  • To formulate an activity profile for each individual resident through liaison with care staff
  • To maintain accurate and legible records in respect of residents activities.
  • Fund raising for the home activity fund
  • Organisation of home events for both residents and families
  • To liaise with the senior nurse on duty with regard to outings.
  • To research all prospective outings in respect of access and toileting facilities.
  • To liaise with senior care assistants in respect of relative medical or nursing care information regarding service users.

Ideally you will:

  • Have previous experience in elderly care or in a similar role.
  • Have the capacity to communicate at a high level both verbally and in writing
  • Be flexible to work shift patterns
  • Be person-centred and have good interpersonal skills
  • Happy to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Be creative, fun and have a ‘can do’ attitude is essential.
