Activities Co-ordinator – Full Time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Full Time Activities Co-ordinator at The Firs Nursing Home in Codnor.

The Firs Nursing Home is located in Codnor – commutable from Heanor and Ripley. The Firs has been refurbished to an excellent standard continually meeting the needs of all their residents.

We have an outstanding reputation within the organisation and the local community, as well as achieving Investors in People. We are dedicated to our staff and residents’ ensuring a high quality of care is delivered at all times.

The duties of the role will include providing stimulation and encouragement to residents through entertainment, activities and community links. Promoting the Home by assisting with fund-raising events and functions and working with the care team to build good relationships with the residents and their relatives.


  • To formulate an activity profile for each individual resident through liaison with care staff
  • Fund raising for the home activity fund
  • Organisation of home events for both residents and families
  • To maintain accurate and legible records in respect of residents activities.
  • To liaise with the senior nurse on duty with regard to outings.
  • To research all prospective outings in respect of access and toileting facilities.
  • To liaise with senior care assistants in respect of relative medical or nursing care information regarding service users.

Ideally you will:

  • Have previous experience in elderly care or in a similar role.
  • Have the capacity to communicate at a high level both verbally and in writing
  • Be flexible to work shift patterns
  • Be person-centred and have good interpersonal skills
  • Happy to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Be creative, fun and have a ‘can do’ attitude is essential.
