Dementia Tea Dance

Every Tuesday Ashmere Derbyshire host a dementia team dance open to the local community. It is the perfect opportunity to come and meet new people while dancing the day away.

Links with schools

We are incredibly fortunate to have forged strong and meaningful connections with a wide array of local schools. Our deep-rooted understanding of the profound importance of intergenerational activities has led us to actively engage in fostering these valuable interactions. We wholeheartedly recognize the immeasurable joy and sense of fulfillment that these activities bring to our cherished residents, and we are dedicated to continuing to facilitate these meaningful connections for the betterment of our community.

Derby Deaf Blackball Tournament

The Blackball Tournament was held at Corn Exchange and saw 32 Deaf players vying for the top spot. Ashmere Derbyshire was a proud sponsor of this event, having paid for both the venue and trophies. The Tournament had 2 winners and 2 runner-ups, as it started with the group stages. In the group stages, the top 2 players went through to the Championship Knockouts, while the bottom 2 went through to the Plate Knockouts.  The Tournament was set up to raise funds for the Royal School for the Deaf Derby (RSDD). They had been engaged in longstanding fundraising to buy a new minibus, and the focus shifted to fundraising for sports equipment. All proceeds from the event were donated to RSDD to support them with the purchase of sports equipment.

Local sports teams

A considerable number of residents residing within our homes are avid sports enthusiasts, and we take great delight in the fact that we have the opportunity to actively engage with our local teams through our continuous sponsorship. The enthusiasm for sports is shared not just by our residents, but also by our dedicated staff, and it brings us immense pleasure to witness their collective enjoyment as they come together to attend games and rally behind the young people in sports in our local community.

BSL Over 50s Coffee Morning

Each month Heanor Park Care Home hosts a BSL coffee morning, this is a great opportunity for our D/deaf residents and local D/deaf adults to meet together while enjoying coffee and cake.

Community Events

We are always looking for local events to sponsor and be involved with, both residents and staff love getting out and going to events as well as hosting events at the homes.

Ashmere Awards Night

We’re keen to celebrate success and reward outstanding work at Ashmere Derbyshire. Every year we celebrate the Ashmere Awards event where nominated staff attend our black-tie gala event.
